As you may know, Leon County Commissioner John Dailey filed to run for Mayor of Tallahassee yesterday. I've known John for many years and I believe Tallahassee would be well served with him as our Mayor. Should voters choose him, City Hall will be in very capable hands.
Over the last few days, many people have asked me to consider running for Commissioner Dailey's now-open seat on the County Commission. For 12 years, John has done an excellent job serving the people of District 3 and of Leon County as a whole. We need someone who will continue that level of public service and build upon the great work that has been done.
I love what the County government is doing, and I love the vision that the County has developed over the last several years. So much so that I would have filed for this seat had John announced his mayoral run earlier.
And so I've decided to run for the District 3 seat on the Leon County Commission.
My dedication to this community is as strong as ever, and as a candidate, my priorities will remain the same: reducing crime, strengthening neighborhoods, helping local businesses create high-quality, high-paying jobs, and ensuring that our local governments perform at the highest ethical standards.
I want to thank you for your incredible help during the City Commission race, and I hope you'll choose to continue your support of me for this new campaign.
Thank you very much for your support, and I look forward to working with you to make our community an even better place to live,
